They say all is fair in love and war, but I really don’t give a damn about fair. In fact, when protecting those I love, fair is the last thing on my mind. Now that I’m back in Candace’s life, those who have used her to try to control me, may well put up a final fight, but they will not win. They will lose and badly.

I donโ€™t just kiss Candace, I ravish her, I drink her in like a man lost in a desert, dying of a thirst he cannot quench. And I was until I found her again. Whatโ€™s worse is, that desert was of my own making, a desolate fucking desert Iโ€™m done with because, thank fuck, sheโ€™s not done with me.
Hugging her close, I hold her like this moment is it, like this is the last time I might ever hold her again. I kiss her just the same, like I will never kiss her again. Iโ€™ve never kissed her with that kind of desperation before now, and not because I didnโ€™t love her. I just always took for granted that tomorrow would come. And I always intended to come back, but I didnโ€™t and now I know, shit happens. People die, tomorrow is not always guaranteed.
She knows this kiss is different, too. Itโ€™s in the way she kisses me back, the way she twists her fingers around my T-shirt. In the way she jerks back, parting our lips, searching my face. In the intensity of her green eyes when they meet mine, the sudden parting of lips, now swollen from my kiss, at what she finds, she orders, โ€œDo not kiss me like this is goodbye, Rick Savage, damn you.โ€
She tries to dislodge herself from my grip but I hold onto her. โ€œDonโ€™t run.โ€
She gapes. โ€œRun? Me? Iโ€™m not the one who ran.โ€ I physically flinch with those well-deserved words, but sheโ€™s not done. โ€œIf you want to say goodbye, just say goodbye, Rick.โ€
โ€œIโ€™m not saying goodbye, Candace.โ€ I catch her hair around my fingers and drag her gaze to my unguarded gaze. I let her see the torment in me. I let her see the guilt. I let her see the dark need in me that isnโ€™t going away like Iโ€™m not going away. โ€œThis is not goodbye,โ€ I repeat. โ€œThis is me making sure that youโ€™re properly kissed, fucked, licked, and loved, the way you deserve to be.โ€
โ€œIt feels like goodbye.โ€
โ€œNo, and one day youโ€™ll trust me enough to know that a dark night doesnโ€™t take us there again. I promise you, you will. Soon.โ€
โ€œHow soon?โ€
โ€œNew York. Itโ€™s going to change everything.โ€
โ€œCan we go now?โ€ she asks hopefully, but we both know we canโ€™t. We both know we have to see tomorrow out.
โ€œI wish we could, baby. I wish we could.โ€
My mouth slants over hers, my tongue licking deeply, possessively and I make sure every answer she wants is right there in this kiss. I make sure she knows that Iโ€™m not fucking living another day without her. She moans into my mouth and when my hands settle on her spine, she arches into me. I rotate her toward the couch, pressing her against the back, my hands finding that soft smooth skin under her T-shirt.
Goosebumps lift on her skin and I tear my mouth from hers. โ€œYou have always been exactly what I need.โ€
โ€œAm I?โ€
โ€œOh yes, baby. You are. I felt you even when you werenโ€™t with me. Every day I was away, I felt you. I missed you. I needed the hell out of you.โ€ I catch the hem of her shirt and toss it, my gaze lowering to her breasts, my fingers tracing the swell above the black lace of her bra, then finding her nipple through that lace.
She sucks in a breath and catches my hand. โ€œRick, Iโ€”โ€
โ€œGod, I love when you say my damn name…โ€

Savage Love (Savage Trilogy, #3)Savage Love by Lisa Renee Jones

Tanya Rae’s rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thank you Lisa Renee Jones for the synopsis of the first 2 books and for the list of characters with their description.

Savage Love is the third and final book in the Savage Trilogy. This is a second chance romance. Oh and you need to read the first 2 books first!

Wow is Savage is a master with knives and he is a killing machine! Savage Love continues where Savage Burn left off. With a knife blade to Candaceโ€™s throat.

Lisa Renee Jones took me on a sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails kind of ride. And yes there isnโ€™t a cliffhanger in site for this book! And yes you get an HEA! It was great to get Rick Savageโ€™s story!

I love how Lisa Renee Jones weaved in a little bit of Lilah Love, another romantic suspense that this author writes.

I canโ€™t wait to read the next book Lisa Renee Jones will write!
