Devil’s Deal (Devil’s Duet #1) by Aleatha Romig. Emma has come to New Orleans with her business partner to get financing for an ideal. Everett Ramses aka Rett is the king pin of New Orleans as well as a successful businessman. He has bought Emma to New Orleans under false pretense. Unbeknownst to Emma she is the daughter of very important member of the old gangsters and Rett has plans for her. I have to say that I read the novella Fate’s Demand ( Devil’s Duet # 0.5). It is not required but it is a fabulous introduction to the characters and their story. Plus Rett is sex on a stick and he knows how to work a body. Taken to Rett’s home Emma finds herself at a disadvantage and acts like a complete dodo head. You see Rett has dropped a lot of information on Emma to absorb, information she doesn’t even know is true or not. Her efforts to finding the answers is ridiculous and she finds herself not knowing who to believe. Oh well! It is to late now and she finds herself not knowing what to do next or who to believe. She was such a letdown for me. Rett however is sin personified and he played her and her body like a true virtuoso. With body, face, swag for days and a lot of bossiness, Emma doesn’t know if she is coming or going. Regardless to my feelings about Emma I am looking forward to the conclusion to their story. Like Emma I too am confused as to who or what to believe, I just would have handled things differently. Well I will just have to wait to find out who is telling the truth and who is only serving their own personal agenda. I have read enough of this author’s books to know she will not disappoint. I give this book 4 stars.

Devil’s Deal is the first book in the Devil’s Duet. This is Everett “Rett” Ramses and Emma “North” O’Brien’s story. Emma is in New Orleans with her friend and business partner to sell a product, or so she thinks. At Emma and Rett’s first meeting, Rett informs her that she is to be his bride. This book is full of twists and turns. Who is telling the truth? Who can she believe? What you think is going to happen might change.

I loved reading this book. Devil’s Deal kept me enthralled all the way to The End.

The rest of the story will be Angel’s Promise and fortunately for me it comes out next month. So not too long of a wait!

Bettina A’s Book Review: 3.5 Stars

This is my second from by this author and it was and wasn’t what I expected. After reading Consequences I knew there was going to be a big twist at the end. Sadly I figured it out before I got to it. So the ending wasn’t a big surprise to me. I’m okay with the characters, I didn’t connect with them really. Emma was to naïve for someone who was independent and in control of their own life. Everett is more cold and mean rather than the devil. He doesn’t do enough to call himself that. All in all this book was tame compared to what I thought it would be.
