You see, I’d gone away for a few days, and in my haste to get out of the airport, I’d grabbed the wrong suitcase.

After checking out the expensive footwear and tailored clothes, I dialed the number on the luggage tag hoping maybe Mister Big Spender might have my bag.

A deep, velvety voice answered, and as luck would have it, he had my suitcase, too.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the exchange.

Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark.

He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee.

Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. Donovan wasn’t just handsome with a panty-dropping voice. He was also funny, smart, and surprisingly down to earth for a man who wore seven-hundred-dollar shoes.

Did I mention he also did my laundry while I slept?

Definitely too good to be true.

So what did I do to repay him for his kindness?

I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

My life was too complicated for such a great guy.

In the months that passed, I thought about Donovan often. But New York City had eight-million people, so what were the chances I’d run into him?

Then again, what were the chances I’d run into him a year later…when I’d just started dating his boss?

 

The Spark by Vi Keeland. She has done it again. I love all her stories. It has been awhile since I have read this author and I didn’t realize how much I missed this author’s story telling skills. Upon coming back from a wild weekend in Las Vegas Autumn inadvertently grabs the wrong bag at the airport. Discovering her mistake she discovers the true owner.  Arranging to meet to exchange bags Autumn meets Donovan. A good looking tall drink of water. After a lovely weekend together they don’t see each other again until a chance meeting. Each has always thought of that weekend together and it left a profound impact on them. Donovan can’t figure out why she just up and left after they had such a fabulous time.  Something in Autumn’s past won’t let her connect with Donovan because of the feelings she has for him. When they reconnect it is the beginning of their journey. It was such a touching story. The sexual tension between the two was thick enough to cut with a machete. At times this story was not only sweet but also funny. As Donovan tries to fight for more with Autumn, she is fighting just as hard to stay away from him. But as their lives become more entwined the fight gets harder. Especially when Donovan is determined to win her over and her past catches up with her. Just a fabulous heart felt story. Loved the other characters and their stories. Definitely wouldn’t mind finding out what happened to them plus a peek into how Autumn and Donovan are living their life after this book. 5 emotional stars for me.
