Rapture And Ruin by Julia Sykes Max Ferrara comes up with a hair brain scheme to kidnap the daughter of the mayor of New York Alexandra Fitzgerald inorder to get information out of her regarding her father. I call Max’s plan hairbrained because it just didn’t make sense to me. Max wants to find out dirt on Alexandra’s father and he hopes with her help he can accomplish his goal. Alexandra is horrified to be kidnapped.ย She doesn’t believe what Max is saying about her father but there is something about Max. Max knows his behavior towards Alexandra is bizarre but he can’t help himself. Max’s family was sent to prison by Alexandra’s dad. He has the weight of bringing his family back to Mafia glory.ย In spite of the kidnapping I am really looking forward to the next book. I really love Max and Alexandra’s relationship. There is something about the two of them that has me wanting more. His struggle with his feelings for Alexandra and doing right by his family is interesting.ย I want to know what Alexandra discovers about her dad. Because of how much I liked Max and Alexandra and their relationship, and where it will go from her I am giving this book 4 stars.

Rapture & Ruin is the first book in the series of the same name, #1. This is Max Ferrara and Alexandra โAllieโ story.
I feel that this story is a bit of the Hatfieldโs and McCoys. Only this is the Italian Mafia (Maxโs family) vs Allieโs father and the Russian Bratva. Of course Allie thinks her daddy is a good man. Donโt we all think daddy’s are wonderful, at least we want them to be. Turns out there are things that Allie doesnโt know.
I enjoyed reading Rapture & Ruin! Of course now I need the next book because this one does end on a cliffhanger.
