โMy dad adored my mother. Thatโs why he hasnโt dated since she passed.โ
He conceded that with a nod. โTrue. Itโs rare. But we both come from that kind of background. After Iโve spent years wishing you were mine, do you really think Iโd be so much of a goddamn fool that Iโd be interested in a piece of fluff when I have you?โ
โSheโs hot,โ I said miserably.ย
โAnd youโre not?โ
I bit my lip. โNot like her.โ I huffed again. โThis is pathetic. Iโm pathetic. Itโs your fault for being so gorgeous, and for all the women wanting you. Iโm used to seeing that and always used to feeling like I donโt measure up.โ
He rasped, โDonโt you know that youโre beautiful?โ
โWell, I mean, I donโt think about it every day,โ I grumbled, โbut I know Iโm attractive. Sure. I wouldnโt make a baby cry if I surprised them.โ
Jack shook his head. โYou have to remember that I fucked all those women because I didnโt know the one woman I wanted in my bed wanted me back.ย
โYour jealousy is tied to the fact that you wanted me for as long as I wanted you but you couldnโt have me because you thought I didnโt see you. That I preferred them over you.ย
โWhen, really, I was just settling for them, Isabeau,โ he rumbled, and holy crap, how he said my full name had me squirming in my seat. โI couldnโt have you, so I had them. I didnโt think I could ever have you, so I took them.ย
โI didnโt worship them like I want to worship you.โ His mouth hovered over mine, making me realize heโd moved nearer to me, so much so there was barely an inch between us. โDo you want me to worship you, Beau?โ
Nodding, nervously I licked my lips, and because we were so close, it meant my tongue flickered over his too.ย
He growled beneath his breath, and I whimpered as he took my mouth in a kiss so all-encompassing that he branded me with his truth.ย
He was right, after all.ย
I was jealous because Iโd felt like I was lacking.ย
Like I wasnโt hot enough for him.ย
When, really, that wasnโt the case at all.
His tongue surged into my mouth, tangling with mine, and because heโd quenched my jealousy with his reasoning, and because heโd done it in a way that hadnโt belittled my emotions, I was left with no other alternative than to fight fire with fire because that was what he brought out in me.
He always had.ย
He made me live.ย
He made me fight.ย
And Iโd missed that.ย

My hands reached up, and like we were dancing, like we were born to dance together, they didnโt collide with his.ย

They slipped around his neck, and I dragged him into me, wishing there wasnโt a car door sticking into my tits and a saleswoman watching us.ย
I explored his mouth, savoring his taste, glorying in the possessive flavor that filled my senses, but more than that, I mimicked what weโd be doing later.ย

His to Hold (Quintessentially Theirs #2) by Serena Akeroyd. I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series until I finished it. I did say to myself that this story was a good way to start a series. With that being said this book can be read as a standalone. There is so much to say about this story.ย A quirky family that is so unconventional and strange that Iย was coming and going. I look forward to reading the next book as well as the first book to see if I will feel differently about this story. Beau and Jack are not only neighbors and bestfriends but she was a big help to his racing team. Now because of her feelings for Jack, Beau watches his races on the television and Jack has become more reckless because Beau is no longer there. They also have feelings for each other but never acted on it until now. Their journey to being a couple is hard and insecurities and misunderstandings are gotten in their way. Jack’s family is something else and the situation with the fathers is a story on it’s own. A good story that has quite a bit going on. Like I said earlier I am so looking forward to the next book because Bash’s story is interesting and I want to know more about him. The fact that he has done some unspeakable things for his sister Rosie in the name of love, a love more than brotherly love. This was a 4 star read for me.
