Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: January 11, 2022

Synopsis:

After suffering a horrific injury that threatens to end his career, Baden Oulett is about to learn that sometimes a fresh start is just what the doctor ordered.

I worked my whole life to achieve one goalโ€”play professional hockey. As part of the defending Cup champion Arizona Vengeance, I was living my dream until one split second decision destroyed it all. Instead of lacing up my skates and hitting the ice, Iโ€™ve spent my days in rehab and physical therapy just so I could walk again. When a coaching opportunity with the Pittsburgh Titans is presented to me, I find myself with a career I had never considered but which allows me to continue being part of the sport that I love.

While my injuries are physical, the same canโ€™t be said for the woman I rescued. Suffering from wounds that canโ€™t be seen, Sophie Winters has withdrawn from the world in fear and guilt. I didnโ€™t know Sophie before that fateful night and have only met her once since, but I refuse to let her face her demons alone. Determined to be a friend, I support Sophie in the only way I know howโ€ฆ by simply being there.

Through our shared trauma, Sophie and I begin to find peace within one another. As we grow closer, what started as friendship becomes more intimate until our broken pieces become one. But can a love born of anguish endure, or will the pain of our past prove too much to overcome?

Baden (Pittsburgh Titans, #1)Baden by Sawyer Bennett
Tanya Rae’s rating: 5 of 5 stars

Baden is the first book in this new spinoff for the Pittsburgh Titans. FINALLY Baden gets his story told! This book can definitely be read as a standalone and as the first book in this new series but Baden has been around for awhile!

Tragedy hit Baden while he was playing for the Arizona Vengeance from the same name series. He rescued a woman, Sophie Winters, that was being attacked. Instead, Baden was horrifically hurt. Baden has gone through a lot of healing and recovery and he has now been offered a job with the Pittsburgh Titans as the Goalie coach. An opportunity he canโ€™t pass up.

The Titans team is having to be rebuilt since the whole team died in a plane crash. Sawyer Bennett left us off with the news about the plane crash at the end of Riggs, from the Arizona Vengeance.

Baden contacts Sophie when he arrives in Pittsburgh because that is where she lives. She was visiting Arizona when she was attacked. She has been trying to rebuild her life since her attack and can barely leave her house.

Thankfully through Baden, Sophie starts to live again and a romance blossoms.

I loved reading Baden! I loved Sawyer Bennettโ€™s cover for Baden! Look closely it has the newspaper clipping of the breaking story about the plane crash killing all on board the plane. The cover is ingenious!ย  Easily a 5 star read!!

Lita’s Book Review: 4 Stars

Baden (Pittsburgh Titans #1) by Sawyer Bennett is the first book in the offshoot of the Arizona Vengeance series. When as a member of the Arizona Vengeance Baden was severely injured when he came to the aid of a woman being mugged. Now that he has learned how to walk again after being paralyzed, Baden is off to Pittsburgh to be a goalie coach after almost the entire team was killed in a plane crash. In Pittsburgh he reaches out to the lady he saved from the mugging who lives here. Sophie is a shell of the woman she use to be. Now working from home she is struggling trying to get back out in the world. She is also struggling with the guilt of Baden being severely injured in her attack. When Baden goes to her house and sees how she is living he decides to help her get back out into the world. Each has their own demons and insecurities. Baden knows nothing about coaching as he deals with losing his own hockey career. Sophie use to be a medical rep. that trained doctors how to using medical equipment. Now she can barely leave her house and traveling and going out at night is out of the question. The two strike up a friendship that turns into more. While we are watching their relationship grow we meet the new players. Trying to build a team from ashes is tough especially when the players are dealing not only with grief, survivors guilt and insecurities. This was a good way to start this series. There are a lot of players with plenty of issues that will make for good stories and I look forward to reading about them. I enjoyed Baden and Sophie’s story to their happily ever after. I also look forward to seeing their relationship grow. A 4 star read for me.
