My parents raised me to believe in magic.
They showered me with love and told me tales of unicorns and princesses
What they should have done is warn me about monsters.
I wanted the fairytale
And for one perfect moment, I thought I had it
But that was before my husband became a monster
Before he hurt me, before he hurt others
And then he died
Leaving me defenseless amid the chaos he created.
Escaping my cage with broken wings just left me vulnerable to predators
My innocence didnโt matter. Nobody cared that I had paid for my mistakes with blood, scars, and broken bones.
I was guilty by association, and somebody had to be held accountable
After all, every fairytale needs a villain; I just didnโt expect it to be me.
Now with nowhere else to go, I hide with the one person who can keep me safe.
They say that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
So why do I feel like I survived a monster only to end up in the arms of the devil himself?

Lita’s Book Review: 5 STARS
Twisted Vows: A Collateral Damage Novel by Candice Wright. You really need to read Tainted Oath first before you read this book because this story is an offshoot of that book. I thought book one was something. This book was so much more. This author is just wow. I am really loving her style of telling a story. Layla aka Lana is trying to get a job with Cash so she can stay safe while getting enough money together to start a whole new life. Being the wife of a dead human trafficker has made her life difficult.ย No one knows the hell she endured but they assume she was apart of his operation. Cash decides he is going to hire her as his nanny to get information on her husband’s organization plus exact his revenge. However what he didn’t plan on was falling for her. This book had so much going on that I was just floored. The story was definitely dark and gritty and cringe worthy at times. Layla had it rough and she didn’t catch a break with Cash.ย Eventhough Cash had feelings for her, he and his people were brutal to her. Eventually she did win some of them over but the damaged had been done and Cash had his work cut out for him. He might have thought he was justified but in the end he found out otherwise. This was definitely an emotional read. I didn’t think I was going to make it. By the end of this story I was an emotional wreck. I didn’t know whether to cry, laugh or punch someone. I do recommend reading the Underestimated series and Ricochet as well. It is not necessary but they are good stories plus you get to know the other player’s story. 5 star read for me

Bravo, Bravo Candice Wright!!!

Twisted Vows is the second book in the Collateral Damage Series.ย This book is not for the faint of heart.ย Oh and get ready for a roller coaster of emotions.ย Let me include nail biting moments too.ย This was a very very good book.ย It is also a very dark story and the opening of the book is brutal!
I knew Tainted Oaths was good!ย I bought 3 other books while reading it from Candice Wright!ย 1. The Queen of Carnage 2. The Princess Chaos and 3. Ricochet and I bought the audio books for them!ย Yes, this series is good, very very good!ย I have to read more about the other characters that played a big part in this book and series.
Sometimes the second book isnโt as good as the first one but both Tainted Oaths and Twisted Vows will have me coming back to read more by this author!ย 10+++ STARS

โYouโre not broken, Layla.โ
I smile. โI am. Iโve been broken so many times that my pieces donโt fit together anymore. Iโm not sad about it, Cash. If I cried about the pieces I lost, Iโd never stop. I think everyoneโs a little broken these days. Everyone is fighting a battle of some kind, whether that be mental demons, or psychotic husbands, sickness, or heartbreak. Everyone has something that threatens to tear them apart at the seams. There is no shame in breaking. Weโre humans, not robots. You can be both fragile and strong. Iโm broken, but Iโm still standing. Some days, thatโs all you can ever really hope for.โ
