The Assignment by Penelope Ward
Tanya’s rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Assignment is a standalone by one of my favorite authors. This is Troy Serrano and Aspyn Dumont’s story. Aspyn is the activities coordinator at an elderly home and Aspyn has been assigned to Troy’s grandfather, to chaperone Troy. Since Troy keeps breaking his grandfather out of the elderly home.
Turns out Troy and Aspyn knew each other from high school and they weren’t friends. Now all they can do is bicker when together and Grandpa keeps leaving them because all they can do is bicker. The truce is the start of the relationship.
I wanted to yell at Aspyn. Get over it! Troy tried to make up for what happened in high school! And, now Troy I have to yell at you too! Don’t FU! Get your act together. Okay, now I feel better! Yes I got very involved in this story! I loved reading this second chance, enemies to lovers romance! I love reading Penelope Ward’s books. She really knows how to draw her readers and catch their attention and keep her readers interested in the whole story. This is a 5 star read for me! Loved it!
Lita’s Book Review: 5 STARS
The Assignment by Penelope Ward is another hit from this author. Aspyn is the director of activities for the senior citizens home in her hometown. She has finally found something she likes and enjoys the residents. When she has to be a chaperone for one particular resident whose grandson keeps taking him off the grounds, she is shocked to see who that grandson is. None other than Troy, the cheating ex boyfriend of her high school best friend. The same Troy whose car she keyed and put laxatives in his football team’s donuts. For some reason Aspyn is still is holding bad feelings against Troy inspite of the fact it has been almost 10 years ago. This story is a laugh riot story of two people constantly arguing about something that happened a long time ago and one person can’t seem to let it go. However somewhere along the line the two combatives find there is an attraction between them. As Aspyn and Troy learn more about each other and themselves, they find out things that have left a lasting emotional effect on each one of them. This author never disappoints and always delivers a fabulous, funny, loving and touching story. Loved the characters and I always love a precocious child. A 5 star read for me.
