The prophecy foretold of the true queen…ย
In the new world, where the old world is long forgotten, an evil queen sits on the throne, and anyone who challenges her reign is a mortal enemyโI am that enemy just by breathing.ย
The queen always gets what she wants, and she wants me dead.ย
Then one day, my life is turned upside down by a prophecy naming me the one true queen. I was oblivious to the true roles of the two men in my lifeโthe Angel of Light and the Angel of Deathโas my existence hung in the balance. One man there to save me, the other to claim me should the queen succeed in her quest for my blood.ย
But every time she nearly succeeds in my demise, my dark angel swoops in, pulling me back to safety. Making the world stop. Pulling everything back in balance.ย
Tired of being hunted by the vampires, slaves to the queen, I decide to fight back. Itโs the only way to survive. Iโm going to tear down the wards one by one and free my alliesโthe witches and the wolvesโand then Iโm going to force the queen from the safety of her castle and claim whatโs rightfully mine.ย
Her kingdom.ย
Her throne.ย
Her crown.

Unlikely Queen by T.L. Smith
Tanya’s rating: 4 of 5 stars
Unlikely Queen is the first book in the new Crystal Castle Series and I think the new genre that TL Smith wrote. With paranormal/fantasy books I think it takes a while to build the new world and to explain it.
I think that while building the world it takes away from some of the story. Or it makes it feel a little long and drawn out. That being said TL Smith does a great job and I love reading PNR/fantasy books.
This story had a little bit of everything. There were witches, werewolves, vampires, demons and angels.
There are 3 sisters witches coming into their own power. Tatiana the eldest, Tanya is the middle child and Talia, whom this story is about, is the baby. They all share the date of birth but are exactly 3 years apart.
Talia doesnโt know how much power she actually has. The Prophecy is coming true.
I enjoyed reading this new genre for TL Smith. I know I canโt wait to see what is next for this series. I anticipate that this next book will be really great now that the first book has started the build for Crystal Castle!
Lita’s Book Review: 4 Stars
Unlikely Queen (Crystal Castle Book 1) by T.L Smith is a big departure from the author’s normal stories this author tells.ย I really enjoy her stories so was curious as to what will this story be about: a supernatural series about a prophecy and a girl who is the rightful queen. Talia lives in a world where an evil queen has relegated the supernatural world into a caste system that keeps the different species separated. Talia lives with her 2 sisters who are witches. Raised by her eldest sister who protects and trains them to survive this harsh life, Talia also has to deal with a prophecy over her life. She never fully understands her role in the prophecy but once her middle sister is taken by the queen this is the beginning of her role in destroying the queen and getting her sister back. Not interested in being queen herself the present queen wants not only wants Talia dead but wants Talia’s gifts as well. There is definitely a lot of stuff to absorb and follow. The one thing I do know is several different male species find Talia alluring and want her for themselves. Talia has he eye on one guy who pops up when she really needs him but can she really be with Grim aka the angel of death. I just leave that little tip bit. Like I said a whole lot of stuff going on and I am interested as where the author is going to take this story and what is the exact meaning of the prophecy and what role will Talia play in the final act of set prophecy.ย 4 stars for me.
Bettina’s Book Review: 3 Stars
While TL Smith has not disappointed me in any of her books I will say this is not my favorite. I took a chance with Unlike Queen because it was her book. If it was from anyone else I would have passed on it. With this said the book was good. I am not a fan of books that takes place in PNR worlds. I was able to finish the book without feeling too disappointed.
I enjoyed the action parts in the book between the witches, wolves, vampires, and angels. I liked the close relationship that Talia had with her sisters. I also liked that Talia was not scared to stand up for herself or someone she cared about. The Queen is a powerful witch but she is willing to go toe to toe with her to get her loved one back no matter what. Idk if I misread the blurb but I was under the impression that there was going to be a โlove triangleโ but I didnโt see that. Talia likes someone she canโt have and while it seems to be mutual you donโt know where Grim stand 100%. He just comes at critical times. Then thereโs Bronik whoโs the opposite of Grim but canโt be trusted. Youโre left not knowing who to root for at all. (Iโm team Grim) I honestly donโt know what to expect with book 2. Iโll see how things play out.
