Torched Spades is the first book in the Marchesi Empire Series. This is Johnny Malone and Dr. Rebecca “Becca” Brennan’s story. Becca is a Psychiatrist and Johnny is a disgraced firefighter.

Johnny isn’t the easiest person to work with. I felt he was very intense. He is a “self-confessed arsonist”. There is a court ordered mandate that he goes to a Psychiatrist for his arsonist behaviour. He goes through a few Psychiatrist until he gets Dr. Brennan.

So, I was a little confused with Johnny’s character since I knew that this book is linked with The Carrera Cartel Collection and Corrupt Gods World. Johnny was an ex firefighter and I had a hard time with that and the fact that he was connected to the Mafia. There is a huge twist and some of my questions were answered. There is a cliffhanger which I was expecting since book 2 is Tortured Hearts and is the conclusion to Johnny and Becca’s story.
