Review by Shannon Pacsuta
I just finished Every Heart Sings by Mackenzie Lucas and I have to say my heart is singing a little tune itself. This is the first book I’ve read of this author, and I was very pleased. I felt that it was well written and had an easy flow to it. I also enjoyed the interactions with the supporting characters, and I would love to visit a place like this small island town of Serenity.
Jordan reminded me of Lindsey Lohan; you know the story, child actress, way too much money, parents as managers, drugs, you name it. Sometimes when we hit rock bottom, we just need to disappear and recalibrate. That’s what Serenity allows people of all walks of life to do. Even big name rock stars like Josh. He has been feeling a little lost and disconnected from his music, and what better place to go and reconnect than a place like Serenity. He just didn’t count on having a distraction such as Jordan. Their chemistry is off the charts, but she’s been burned by so many close to her before. And she certainly doesn’t want her nephew following in her footsteps, even if Josh is willing to mentor him. Will she give Josh a chance for her nephew’s sake? Or will she let fear continue to rule her life? “We’ll never experience our full potential if we let fear keep us from what we want most in life.” This quote can apply to every aspect of life, whether it’s work, family, or love. You just need the courage to face your fears. The possibilities are endless.
I am giving Every Heart Sings 4 stars, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
*I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
About the Author:
Mac is a small-town country girl with a world-traveler’s heart. She grew up in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania and she’s lived in Dublin, Ireland, within throwing distance of New York City in Long Island, and now in the Washington, D.C. area. She obtained her undergraduate degree in English Literature from Dickinson College and received her M.F.A. in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University. With Mackenzie Lucas—whether you’re reading her light paranormal romance or her small-town-based contemporary romance—you’ll always find a heart-warming love story about connectedness, community, and emotional authenticity. And, no, it doesn’t hurt that all her heroes are panty-melting gorgeous alphas and all their sexy, sensually aware heroines know how to stand up to them, give no quarter, and love them just as they are.
