Abby is a twenty-something, outgoing, no-nonsense, weed-smoking chick. She works at a homeless shelter, and has a group of best friends who are more like sisters.
Jake is a supervisor at the shelter where Abby works. He’s divorced and father to a beautiful 3 year-old daughter. He and Abby have flirted back and forth for years, and after an incident at the shelter involving Abby, Jake decides to ask her out. Surprisingly, as cautious as they’ve tried to be with their feelings, Jake and Abby find themselves falling in love. Their relationship seems to be progressing nicely. Jake’s ex-wife isn’t happy about this, and he doesn’t care. His daughter adores Abby, and he couldn’t be happier.
Unbeknownst to the happy couple, Abby has a stalker. He has been following her for quite a while. He has studied her, her routines, and her close friends. He wants her for his own, but Jake’s unexpected appearance in Abby’s life upsets him. He needs to get rid of Jake, and any other obstacles that stand in the way of him and Abby.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s told from three different points of view: Abby, Jake, and the stalker. I liked getting in the heads of these three.
There are quite a few twists and surprises, and there is a cliffhanger at the end. I hope the sequel isn’t too far away.
Residing in Toronto, Alice is happily unmarried to her common law hubs of 14 years, 2 children, dog and cat.
A perfect evening includes, watching a horror flick with her hubby and nibbling on something chocolate.
When not writing, Alice enjoys watching crap television where people go to find love and cry over losing a guy who had to go on national television to find a date.
