My life changed forever the night my husband died. I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him. But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope. My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that. When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I’m willing to sacrifice it all.
Shannon Pacsuta’s Review: 5.0 ★★★★★
Wow…what an emotional read. This is the story of Julia, her daughter Everleigh, and Crew. Sigh…Crew…he is Everleigh’s uncle and Julia’s late husband’s brother. Oh, and he just so happens to be Julia’s first love. Can you say complicated? Now throw in some real life obstacles that force the two to come together, and you have one hell of a book.
I am almost embarrassed to say that Sacrifice is the first thing I have read by Adriana Locke. I mean, seriously? Where have I been? She pulled me into this story with every word written. I was no longer reading some random story, I was feeling it in my bones. The writing style she possesses is unlike any I’ve read recently. There is one particular scene in this book that will forever stay with me. She took an unbelievably hard situation and conveyed it in such an amazing way that it literally took my breath away. “The best things in life don’t come easy, but those things are the ones worth the sacrifice.” There are many moments in this storyline that are not easy by any means, but it is well worth the sacrifice. I am giving Sacrifice 5 stars. Read this book!
*I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Theresa Martin’s Review: 5.0 ★★★★★
After losing her husband, Julia and her daughter Everleigh find themselves under the care of Crew Gentry. Crew is Julia’s brother-in-law, and first love. He’s made mistakes in his past, but he’s determined to help his brother’s widow and daughter. Needless to say, their lives have become complicated. After a series of mishaps, broken promises, and a vow to make things right, Crew is determined to see that his family is taken care of. Julia isn’t so sure she can depend on him when his past actions have shown that she shouldn’t.
We all know Crew is a fighter. But I think Julia’s a tougher fighter. She’s had to endure so much, and keep going when it’s so easy to just give up. Struggling with money and family problems, Julia is determined to be a better parent than hers were. This story was so much more than Crew’s fighting—as I thought it would have been prior to reading this book.
There has been a lot of buildup for this book, and I was honestly skeptical about all the hype. Adriana had written The Exception, The Perception, and most recently, The Connection. I loved the hell out of that series and applauded her talent. But Sacrifice was nothing like she had written before. It was beautiful, raw, painful, and purely gutted me. There were no rich, fancy guys with expensive cars and grand, lavish gestures of romance. Adriana ripped out my heart, put it back together full of love, and I absolutely adore her for it. She surpassed my expectations for this book, and I can’t wait to see more of her writing. She has a beautiful gift, and we are lucky she decided to share it with us.
I have images of Adriana’s muse for Crew—Tom Hardy—firmly implanted nicely in my head as I read this story. And when I re-read it, because that will definitely be happening.
I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 5 stars.

Excerpt
“She’s been missing him a lot lately.” Julia’s voice is barely a whisper and my chest constricts. Our conversations don’t normally make it to discussing Gage unless we’re already arguing. The fact that she just brought it up shocks me and I’m not comfortable with it. I don’t know how to take it. I feel my jaw pulse with frustration and scramble to change the subject again. “Why is it so chilly in here?” Her smile disappears and she tugs her sweatshirt nervously. “I didn’t know it was.” “How can you possibly not know?” I start to the thermostat across the room when she clears her throat.
“The heater isn’t working right. I asked Lane to come by and look at it earlier this week.”
“And he hasn’t been here yet?” I shoot her a look and she shakes her head. “He’ll be here tonight.” I dig my cell outta my pocket.
“Crew, don’t. Please. The last time you called my landlord he was a complete jerk to me for a couple of months. I just got on good terms with him again.”
I scroll through my contacts list, looking for his name.
“Crew …” I know her doe-eyes are pleading with me. I also know if I look up at her, I’ll be somewhat inclined to give in. So I don’t.
