Review Stop: TRANSCENDING DARKNESS ~Airicka Phoenix w/ Reviews @EJBookpromos @AirickaPhoenix

Well I have a different outlook than Lisa G.  Another blogger at TaSTy WordGasms.  I loved this book and I hated putting Transcending Darkness down to go to work.  So I guess I like all the details.  That is what I like about being able to read the same book on my blog having different POV’s.

 Juliette’s father died and he owed the wrong people a lot of money.  Arlo has now come after Juliette to pay her father’s debt.  Killian saves Juliette from Arlo.   Killian would love to love Juliette but, knows he can’t because people that Killian keeps around him die.  So he just knows he can’t keep someone over 1 year. Hence the contract for 1 year.

I did have a kindle throwing moment.  When Killian told her he didn’t love her and broke his contract! I can’t say more because I don’t want to spoil the book for you!  I really enjoyed Transcending Darkness and I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.  I give it 4.5 stars.

This is a story of two injured hearts that come together as one.  It does however take quite some time to become one. Juliette Romero –yes, you guessed it her mother was a fan of Shakespeare, works three jobs trying to support herself and her sister Viola. Biggest hurdle is that her father, who has passed, left an incredibly large debt to the wrong people and now Juliette has to pay it off.  Juliette is drowning and quickly. Cue in Killian, the Scarlet Wolf – an Irish “gone good” gangsta. Although in the life of a Mafiaso can you really ever get out of the life?

“Let them fear me, he thought. Let them know what I am capable of, what I will do if anything comes against me”

He was at the right place at the right time and if Juliette signs an agreement to be part of Killian’s life for a year – he will pay off her debt in full. Seems simple enough, right? Wrong with a capitol W!

“There was never an us. From the very beginning, I warned you there wouldn’t be. This was never a relationship and you assured me you understood. That alone defaults the contract” – I’ll be honest I wanted to throw my Nook across the room.

Then a little later he follows up with “ You broke me. You took away everything that I was, everything that made me strong. You made me forget what I was and why.” – and now I was snuggling my Nook! “You make me weak and weak men die” Awwww, my heart!

“There is a reason I don’t pick women like you, virgins with no idea how to tell apart lust from love, we had sex. Lots of sex. It was great sex, I won’t lie. But a real woman knows the difference, know not to confused the two. I apologize if you ever thought I would ever love you, but it’s not something I am capable of” – and the Nook went flying across the room!

The storyline was great – I loved the writing style and story. For me, however, it was a tad bit too descriptive and wordy. I thought the story could have moved along quicker than it did – I felt my mind wandering at times. For people who love to hear all the details – you will love this book!!

3.5 Stars for me.
