Frank’s Review: 4.0 Pitchforks   Devil with Pitchfork                                                                                  Alexandria is young, beautiful, successful and really needs to get laid. Finding someone willing to help her take care of her needs shouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately trying to make partner at her law firm doesn’t leave her much time for a social life. When she learns of Club Valentine, a plan is decided on. Now becoming a member would put her at risk of the partners finding out so she just needs the owner, Roman, to service her himself, without any emotional entanglements of course. Following some “hard” negotiations they come to terms.
Charlotte Winston has crafted a gripping erotic drama in Mutually Exclusive. The characters are intriguing while the courtroom suspense keeps the pages turning. This book was carefully setup and had several excellent sex scenes but could have been improved by fewer big revelations right at the end of the story. All things considered I did enjoy the tale as well as the writing style. The Devil rates this 4.0 pitchforks.
Devil with Pitchfork                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Theresa M’s Review:   4.0 Stars                                                                   Alexandra Kane is following in her late father’s footsteps as a great attorney.  She’s set very high goals for her professional career, sadly at the cost of her personal life.  She’s so busy with work trying to make partner at her law firm, but if she doesn’t get some relief from the stresses of her life, she’s going to snap.  She doesn’t want a boyfriend, just an occasional hook-up to keep her body tuned up and relaxed when she needs it.  She’s very much hands on and in control at work, but in the bedroom, she wants to just let go and have someone else make the calls.  Her best friend offers her entry to an exclusive sex club.Roman Valentine owns this club.  He’s a gorgeous, self-made wealthy man.  When Alexandra meets with him to discuss her desires for his club, she wants him to be her occasional stress reliever.  The attraction is mutual, but Roman doesn’t want to act on it.  After a bit of pushing from Alexandra, Roman agrees to her request, with a few conditions of his own.

The passion is off the charts, and turns out they find themselves enjoying each other’s company outside of their play time.  Much to both their surprises, they decide to see each other outside the club.  They’re both chasing ghosts from their past, but little do they know how much those ghosts have in common with them, and their ability to upheave both their lives.

Charlotte has written a good story of past hurts, revenge, forgiveness, and how people deal with them.  In addition to their relationship with each other, I enjoyed Alexandra and Roman’s no-nonsense attitudes, stubbornness, and also their strong love for their family and friends.

I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 4 stars.

Tanya Rae’s Review:  4.0 Stars                                                                                    Oh D*mn I might have just moaned. And, this was at the beginning of the Mutually Exclusive.

I really enjoyed this book. It was just the right length. Not too long that I would get bored and not to short that I felt that any of the story was left out. I believe this is the first book written by Charlotte Winston and it was a very good debut book. Of course she had me with the synopsis. Alexandra couldn’t resist the temptation when given the opportunity to join Club Valentine and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to read about Alexandra Kane’s & Roman Valentine’s story. And, that is all of the synopsis you will get out of me. Charlotte Winston does a much better job than I could in giving you what this book is about.

Oh and I loved how strong Alexandra was when she met Roman for the first time and gave her proposition. Of course she is an attorney and I could actually see the meeting happening just that way. No I can’t tell you what she said or did. You need to read the story to find out what happened.

A copy of Mutually Exclusive was gifted to me for an honest review. I give it 4.0 stars and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Excerpt

“I’m thrilled for my sister. She deserves all the happiness life has to offer, and Anthony’s perfect for her.” Alexandra smiled, leaning against Blair’s shoulder because it was too much work to hold her head up in her drunken state.

“She looks happy. Unlike some people.” Blair drilled her finger in Alexandra’s stomach.

Alexandra swatted it away before Blair bruised something. “I’m happy. How many people do you know make junior partner when they’re thirty?” She held her arms out like an actor gesturing toward their waiting crowd.

Blair rolled her eyes, pushing Alexandra’s arms down. “There’s more to life than work. When was the last time you went on vacation? Had a date? Got laid?” Alexandra’s eyes darted toward the rearview mirror, where the cab driver was paying close attention to Blair’s latest “you need a life” round of questions.

Alexandra turned so she could maintain some semblance of privacy from the nosy cab driver. “I’m going on vacation as soon as I’m done with my upcoming trials. You know how important it is for me to make partner. And as far as dating, I don’t have time for anyone right now. Getting laid? That’s been a while.” Six months, to be exact, but Blair didn’t need to know that piece of information. And wasn’t she just a chatty Cathy after all those drinks? Those close to her knew Alexandra didn’t date but had no idea she went to the bar for a random one-night stand when she had an itch to scratch. Easier all around, but she’d been too busy for even that recently.

Blair tsked at her. “You don’t even remember, do you? The day I forget the last time I had sex is the day I hire a male escort.” Alexandra remembered, but refused to elaborate on the drunken hookup on for her twenty-ninth birthday resulting in missing panties and a walk of shame to rival her college days.

Alexandra slapped her arm. “I am not hiring a prostitute. Could you see the headlines? ‘Popular lawyer indicted for soliciting sex.’ Plus, I can get my own man; I just don’t have time.” And she refused to deal with the next guy looking at her like she was a freak—as though she were damaged somehow—because she loved having sex a lot. She just chose not to have indiscriminant sex with multiple men, she preferred one partner. And there was no partner, just her vibrator, which she’d almost worn out with overuse.

Blair didn’t answer, just stared out the window, deep in thought before addressing her. “Hey, I have an idea…”
