Wild Aces by Marni Mann is Brea’s story of her life. Brea is part of the Unblocked collection but this book can be read as a standalone. If you can, try and read the collection; it will not disappoint. Brea is best friend to Frankie. Brea use to be her assistant but now runs a division in best friend’s real estate company. At a masquerade party being given by Frankie and her husband she meets a man that has her blood burning. Brea has been struggling since the love of her life was killed 2 years ago. She ends up kissing this masked man but doesn’t get to really meet him until he returns from his business trip to Vegas. Trapper has had a hard life and he can only put his demons to rest when he plays poker which he is very good at. He is also involved in something else very nondescript, secretive and highly dangerous. At the invitation of a drinking buddy he attends a masquerade party where he meets a woman that gives him the same tranquility that playing poker give him. However before he could get to know her he has a poker tournament in Vegas. He hopes to get to get his chance when he gets back. Their interaction while apart was a build up to the day that finally got to see each other for the first time. This story fresh and new. The sexual tension between the 2 was off the charts. When I was reading this story I was kept guessing as to what his secret was but than a more explosive bomb was dropped that had me hooked. At that point I could not read this story fast enough so I could get all the pieces to the puzzle. This story does not disappoint. I could not have seen any of what was revealed coming. Kudos to the author for a very clever story and the sex between Brea and Trapper was hotter than hot. I was given an ARC of this book and give this story 5 stars.
