Wow surprisingly I really loved this book. Maybe I shouldn’t say surprisingly other than this is a brand new author and Blinded by Darkness is his first book.
J. A. Essen definitely kept my interest and I started reading Blinded by Darkness this morning and read this book in a couple of hours. Goodreads list this book as having about 182 pages so it is a fairly short read. Blinded by Darkness was a little different type of BDSM book than what I usually read. Oh it definitely has those elements for BDSM. Mason buys his slaves for crazy amount of money and then he usually tosses these women aside but, he makes sure they are taken care of for a while after. So not only does he pay this crazy amount of money to these women. He then makes sure they are taken care of after he loses interest. I felt that Mason was confused & conflicted at times might have been seen as weak. I think the author did try and explain why Mason was like he was. I would have liked a little more detail and did feel that some of the explanation was unclear.
Blinded by Darkness is very Hot! I enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this author. This book was not an ARC and I found out about this book because it was a release post on my blog. It is available on Kindle Unlimited or for $0.99 which I think is a very good price for this book. I give Blinded by Darkness 4.5 STARS. Oh and I am glad you didn’t start with an “End of the World sci-fi adventure J. A. Essen and I hope you want to write more in this genre.

I have been married for eleven years and have two, very rambunctious little boys, ages five and seven. I am a full time restaurant manager and now, part-time Indie author. I enjoyed writing short stories and poems when I was in middle school, and won a few contests with my poetry, one of which was a published Christmas poem. I enjoy reading everything from dark erotica, to bio-tech sci-fi, to fantasy.
