A hero to rival any book boyfriend. A game that turns fantasy into reality.
His name is Scorch, and he’s my fantasy come to life. I should have known finding a real life hero was too good to be true. But after he rescued me from my captor I couldn’t see him any other way.
Then he tells me he works for The Vice Agency, a company that simulates fantasy into reality. And that everything I know about the last twenty-four hours is a lie.
Except for the men chasing us.
Someone wants me dead, and Scorch is the only thing keeping me alive, but he doesn’t want to be anyone’s hero. He’s a damaged husk of a man.
I swear, if we survive this, I’m going to find a way to prove to him he’s not only a true hero, but he might be more than just the man of my fantasies.
This is the first book I’ve read my Misti Murphy. It kept my attention and Misti does know how to keep the story moving along. However the premise of the story was strange, so very strange – so Kaiser is a male escort while in hiding because he is actually a crown prince. (Yes, you read that correctly.) Obviously, he wasn’t ready to become said prince so he instead he is a male escort. Weird, so weird. Allie is a bartender and meets “Kai” because this is where he comes to drink after each “job” at exactly midnight. He drinks the exact same drink and doesn’t talk to Allie – they have a comfortable silence. That is until one evening – he comes to the rescue of Allie and accidentally leaves something behind – Allie now knows what he does for a living and decides to use his services. The push and pull between these two is enough to make you want to pull your hair out – yet, oddly, it kept my attention and I was intrigued.
Lines get crossed between fantasy and reality – both for us the readers and for Allie and Kai.
It was a quick read and had some definite hotness to it.
3 Stars for me.
