This was the first book I’ve read by L.P. Dover, while I had a difficult time connecting with the characters, I did enjoy the story. I’ll admit a few times I felt it was over the top a bit – yet I also had to know what would happen. This was a second chance love story – Luke Collins, bad boy and motocross champion had a one night stand with Lara Jacobs – they’ve been friends for, well, ….forever! Lara has ALWAYS had a crush on Luke, when she finally gave in and then Luke blew her off she was heartbroken. What Lara didn’t know was Luke went head of heels in love with her and this scared him – he didn’t know what to do – so instead of manning up, he took the easy way out and ran from his feelings – right into the arms of other women. Lara continued to watch this happen and decided she needed to “fake it until she makes it” and pretended to be happy and not have a care in the world. Except she did care – too much, as did Luke. When Luke FINALLY decided to man up – Lara was engaged to her friend and co-owner of her restaurant the Tavern, Grayson Moore.
This is honestly when the story became a suspense – Luke was fighting for her, Grayson was fighting for her and a whole bunch of shocking stuff happens in between. The story was written well, I did like the characters, just did not connect with them – I wanted to feel and unfortunately I just didn’t. With that being said, the storyline was solid, the writing was great – kept a nice pace and I didn’t catch myself getting bored.
4 Stars for me!

Shannon P’s Review:
Review of Last Chance by L.P. Dover
This is a second-chance romance that involves Luke, the bad-boy motocross champion and Lara, his ex’s best friend. Did I mention that they also shared a one-night stand? Within the first couple of chapters, we all know that Luke did not handle this one-night stand in the very best way. Determined to move on with her life and protect her heart, Lara rebounds with Grayson. However, fate intervenes and throws a wrench into everyone’s plans. After a near fatal accident causes Lara to lose all memories of the past several years, things are not as they seem. Will she choose Grayson, the one who says all the right things? Or will she choose Luke, the one who makes her feel all the right things? Who can she trust with her heart?
This was a quick and easy read, although a little rushed at times. I loved the motocross aspect of the storyline. I give Last Chance 3.5 stars.
