โMr. Huntsworth, your new office assistant has finished with human resources.โ My chief of security sounds amused as his voice plays from the speaker on my desk.

My fingernail catches on the red disc of a call button beside the vanity in my bathroom. I press it, wait for Brian to answer, and then thank him for the notice. I wait at my deskโone minute becomes two, and then itโs soon five minutes before I hear muffled voices outside of the security clearance down the hall. I try to focus on the paperwork in front of me. Only a handful of people have clearance to get in here, and most of those require the security guard in the hall or someone inside to buzz them in. I look up.
Lia stands before me, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. โHi.โ Her voice trembles before she steels herself and repeats it more surely. โDo I call you Mr. Huntsworth?โ She has her head tilted down, and she looks up at me through the sweeping edge of her bangs. Her lipsย part,ย and the tip of her tongue glosses over them. Sheโs nervous, and I selfishly hope itโs because of me.
โBeck is fine unless I happen to be in a meeting. โSirโ works too,โ I tease.
Lia blushes before rolling her eyes. She even does that artfully. โThank you for the job,

The way she says my name makes my cock throb. โI should be thanking you for accepting it, Lia.โ I stand and offer her my hand. Her fingers are cool as they slip into my palm, and the shake we share is anything but innocent despite the chaste touch. I have been getting tired of all the taboo type romances. So, I was skeptical about reading Her Best Friendโs DAD. But, after reading the blurb I felt I wanted to read this book. This book wasnโt real long and it is stated to be Penny Wylderโs first full length novel. I donโt know how many pages but, it doesnโt take too long to read.
I enjoyed Beckโs and Liaโs story. Beck is Tashaโs father and Tasha is Liaโs BFF. Liaโs stepmother Jean, isnโt a very nice person. After-all arenโt all stepmothers supposed to be evil? Jean doesnโt make it easy for Lia to live at home. Lia stays a lot at her BFFโs. I wonโt say more because I donโt want to give a spoiler.
Is it bad that I enjoyed this taboo book? It is a hot and steamy book!
I loved the connection that Beck and Lia have together and there is an HEA!

Her Best Friendโs Dad by Penny Wylder Even as a teenager Lia has had a thing for her best friendโs father. She has went as far as to promise her friend she would stay away from him. But time and situations have a way of making a person go against a promise they had all intentions of keeping. Lia had went so far as to move away but circumstances brought her back home. Now her only sanctuary from her verbally abusive step mom in her best friendโs dadโs garage and to compound the situation her step mother has gotten her a job working directly for the man of her dreams and lust. I really enjoyed this book. The subject matter being taboo makes for a good read. This one did not disappoint. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. It also helped that the dad was sexy as sin and their sex was hot. ย I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I give it 4.5 stars.
