Kace August: famous, intense, dark, addictive. Aria Alard: a woman with secrets, passion, and a dangerous past.
Passion. Secrets. Mystery. Aria fell hard for Kace. She trusted him. But did he deserve that trust? And where is Gio?
A Wicked Song is the second book in the Brilliance Trilogy.
βI want you,β he says. βJust you.β
βHow do I know that?β
A low, frustrated sound escapes his lips and he drops the medication bag, and spikes fingers into my hair, a low curse escaping his lips. His eyes meet mine, and the depth of the emotion he then spikes in me steals my breath. Before I can catch it again, heβs breathing for me. His mouth slants over my mouth, his tongue licking a wicked, seductive note against my tongue. And despite my injured hand and my burdened heart, I melt the way I always melt for this man. I melt and I moan, and when he tears his mouth from mine, I am panting.
βThat is how you know,β he declares. βWe are connected, you and me. We both feel it.β
βAll that says is that I want you and that I have the potential to be foolish because of that desire, but I wonβt live up to that potential, Kace.β
βHow do I know you arenβt after my money?β
I blanch. βBecause Iβm not. You know Iβm not.β
βCan you prove it?β
βYou know Iβm not,β I repeat.
His hands come down on my shoulders and he pulls back to look at me as he says, βI do know you, but that still requires me trusting you and Iβve had plenty of reasons in my life not to offer you that trust. Reasons you donβt know. Many reasons, Aria. Many betrayals. But I give you my trust anyway. Iβm not after the formula, but all I have to offer is my word. You have to decide if you trust me.β
My hand settles on his chest, and his heart beats a rowdy song beneath my palm. βIβm very confused right now,β I confess, and itβs as honest as I have ever been with him or me. βAnd my head is spinning.β
His hand covers my hand on his chest. βThen let me take care of you. Let me take you home.β
There is a library filled with books the size of all the reasons I should say no, but even as I have that thought, he says, βDonβt say no.β
Words heβs said to me every moment of indecision Iβve ever shared with him. And right or wrong, like every time before, I donβt say no. I say, βYes.β
A Wicked Song by Lisa Renee Jones
Tanya Rae’s rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Wicked Song is the 2nd book in the Brilliance Trilogy. I love that Lisa Renee Jones puts in a recap at the beginning of each of her books. It helps to remind you of what happened prior to starting the next book in the series. So thank you for that!
This is a continuation of Kace August and Aria Alardβs (aka Aria Stradivari) story. Their story continues where A Reckless Notes leaves off. Kace & Ariaβs chemistry continues to be off the charts, hot.
Also, if you have read any of LRJβs other books you will know about the Walker Securityβs hot team & some of the team show up in this series. I love when there are crossovers from other series.
I knew there was no way out of the 2nd book having a cliffhanger when I started this book and of course I was right. Now I canβt wait for A Sinful Encore! Coming in September. So at least the wait isnβt too long from now!
