From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new forbidden, enemies-to-lovers storyโฆ
ย
It all started with an unexpected phone call.
Two years after my fiancรฉ passed away in an accident, his father died suddenly, leaving Bradโs adult, special-needs brother with no one to care for him.
The next thing I knew, I was on a cross-country drive to New Hampshire where Iโd be moving in to look after Scottie until I could get him into a group home.
The last thing I ever expected?
I wouldnโt be taking care of him alone.
Josh Mathers, my fianceโs best friendโwho also happened to be my sworn enemyโinsisted he was the better person for the job. He told me to go back to California, and I told him where he could stick that demand.
Our disdain for each other wasnโt anything new. It dated back to a text Iโd accidentally read years ago.
We hated each other. But we both loved Scottie, so neither of us budged.
Now we were living together in a tiny houseโwith one available bedroom. Thank goodness it was only temporary.
Over time, I realized the broody jerk I thought I knew was different than Iโd imagined.
I found myself slowly growing attached to someone I once considered the enemyโฆand growing attracted to him.
Sure, both of us were guilt-ridden over Brad. We were also two grown people with pent-up frustration toward one anotherโstuck in a cabin in the woods.
But this was Josh.
I could never.

Lita’s Book Review: 5+ STARS
I Could Never by Penelope Ward
Tanya’s rating: 5+ of 5 stars
I Could Never is a standalone. I knew it was going to be a good book when I had my first laugh at about 15% of the book! This is Josh Mathers and Carly Garber story and Scottie Longo
You know you have a good book when you just LOL. People wonder what you are up to. You know itโs a good book, when you become emotionally involved with the characters. You know that you are reading a good book when you start talking to the characters as if they are real people. You know that you have a good book when you start cheering for them or start crying because of a really emotional decision that you canโt believe was made. Do you sense a theme here?
I love I Could Never! Scottie was so endearing! I am so glad that both Josh and Carly love him and want to protect him! Penelope Ward really knows how to develop her characters. They are complicated people that she writes about. This author had me laughing at one moment and crying in another. Again, I Love this book!!! 5 + STARS for this one and I highly recommend it!
