Sole Survivor by Candice Wright. I have read quite a few books from this author, and she definitely isn’t a one trick pony. The range of books she has written is refreshing. This book right here was a true mind blower. I definitely didn’t see this coming. From page one, she takes the reader to a dark place. Rue wakes up to find herself disoriented and buried alive. Being rescued, she now has no memory of what happened or who she is. From what she is told, she was working with the police and she was the sole survivor of the Lullaby killer. All victims had a connection to Briarwood House. Briarwood was supposed to be a place where the rich and famous sent their mentally ill loved ones. What Briarwood House was a house of horror. The way the author tells the story we go from Rue and her journey to a past resident of Briarwood who gives us a glimpse into his life at the house of horrors. I was left guessing as to who the killer is and the direction of the story. All I know is Valen Ward was a resident of Briarwood, and he was involved with Rue before her abduction. He is also the police’s person on interest. The ending will have you clutching the pearls while your face falls on the floor. 5 what just did I just read stars. Sit back and hold on. Kudos!!! I love dark and twisted books like this. Yes!!!!
