BLURB

She calls me Hudson
But they know me as Pete
A simple man with a common name
They see the warm smile of their neighbor,
Not the cold eyes of a man who kills for the thrill of it and sleeps like a baby afterward
Until Starling
My sonโ€™s girlfriend and my new obsession
She falls into my lap like a wounded bird with broken wings
Branding me with her touch, making me an addict after just one taste
She thinks Iโ€™ll give her up once she gives in
But sheโ€™s never met a man like me before
And Forbidden Fruit was always my favorite.
ย
He calls me Birdie โ€ฆ
But they know me as Starling.
A strange girl with a pretty name
Iโ€™m the orphan everyone pities
A perpetual victim who has spent more time on her knees than most
Until Hudson
Heโ€™s a monster of his own making,
One who crosses all my lines and pushes every limit
He doesnโ€™t want to free me; he wants to cage me
And if I resist, heโ€™ll destroy the only boy Iโ€™ve ever loved.
After all, monsters donโ€™t win hearts
They steal them.

Author note: There are no heroes in this story, no sweet declarations of love or hard-earned redemption arcs.
But then, some girls donโ€™t need a hero to save them; they need a villain willing to burn right along with them.
ย
**This book plays with the darker side of love, such as obsession, infatuation, and the power plays made to obtain it.**
ย
Triggers: It goes without saying that this book contains dark elements that some readers will find uncomfortable, including offense!ve language, graphic v!olence, explicit s@xual situations, and often a combination of all three.
Readers must be aged eighteen or over because therapy is expensive.

Lita’s Book Review: 5 STARS

Commit (Death in Bloom #3) by Candice Wright. I have to start out by saying I was extremely confused by the beginning of this story.ย  I also was hoping this book was going to be about a totally different character than Pete. I was disappointed this story was Pete, aka Hudson, Atlas’s driver from book 1. I am so glad I read this book. It was so good. I loved it. Just so you know, this book can be read as a standalone. However, if you haven’t read books 1 and 2, do so. They are well worth the read. Pete is a stone-cold killer, and he could care less.ย  He had his sight set on Starling.ย  Starling is not only 17 going on 18, but she is also Pete’s youngest son’s girlfriend.ย  None of those things were a deterrent to Pete making Starling his. And he went totally left to make it happen and even further after that.ย  Her age meant nothing. Being his son’s girlfriend and taking her anyway or where he saw fit didn’t affect him. As Pete is being a total douche to Starling, he is also trying to help Atlas with a string of murders. The murders are a message, and Pete is determined to figure it out. As the killer leaves clues like breadcrumbs, a discovery is made. When everything was said and done, I was floored.ย  Candice blew my mind. I had to eat my words on how I initially thought about this story.ย  Definitely put in mind of Sole Survivor.ย  If you haven’t read that book, do so. Not now, but right now. Both books 5 stars. The endings are everything.ย
