As the only child of world-famous pianist, Julian Vaughn, I was born into music. It wasn’t just what I did, it was it who I was. I began taking lessons at the tender of six. I was raised to follow in my father’s legacy. It wasn’t just that I wanted to be the best, it was expected.
I went to all the best schools, trained with the best teachers, and spent my summers at special camps. I was right on the cusp of graduating college with all my dreams coming true, when tragedy struck.
Grief caused me to give it all up and silence my talent… until he came into town. The boy I knew from years ago remembered the girl I used to be and was determined to help me find her… only I wasn’t sure I wanted him to.
Could I go back and love the one thing that made me remember?
Lita’s Book Review: 5 STARS
The Night the Stars went Dark by Heather D’Agostino. This is a very touching and moving tale of Aspen. From an extremely early age, she has always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps as a famous piano player. She trained tirelessly to achieve her goal. Even when tragedy struck, she still pressed on with the love and encouragement from her father. When Aspen went off to college, she still worked hard to achieve her ultimate goal, which was to play at Carnegie Hall. She would go with her dad as a kid. Now, being so absorbed with college, she had one real friend who knew her up and down, and that was Bryson. He, too, was studying music and had aspirations of playing in the Boston Symphony. Senior year, it looks like both will obtain their dreams. All their hard work had paid off. Unfortunately, the ultimate tragedy strikes and shakes Aspen to her core. Her life has been upended, and music is no longer her happy place and is now full of pain. Years later, a chance meeting has a profound effect on her. Bryson walks back into her life. This was just a fabulous story of rediscovery and the love of a person. I could have read this story for quite some time. It wasn’t about a bunch of sex but a true journey of love. I love a good storyline, and this one did not disappoint. This book had me hooked from the beginning to the very last page. 5 stars for me.
