King (Pittsburgh Titans, Book #14)
by Sawyer Bennett
Synopsis:
Jack Kingston is known for his dominant playing skills on the ice, but off, heโs a down-to-earth guy who values a true connection over a meaningless hookup.
I love being a member of the Pittsburgh Titans, even if my teammates are constantly ribbing me about women who they claim are throwing themselves all over me. Could I go for the easy lay? Sure, but thatโs not my style. Iโm more of long-term kind of guy. Instead, Iโm going to keep doing what I do bestโkilling it out on the ice. Everything else will fall into placeโฆeventually.
That time comes sooner than expected, in the most unlikely of ways. At the rink to watch our goalieโs kids play Peewee hockey, I meet Willa Montreaux and somehow, by the end of that interaction, Iโve offered to help her coach the Ice Pups. Altruism or were there other intentions in that offer? A little of both, if Iโm being honest.
As the time I spend with Willa increases, I am absolutely certain I want even more. Sheโs gorgeous, sure, but thatโs superficial. Willa is also funny, loving, determined and smart. SO smart.ย Doctorย smart. Probably too intelligent for a jock like me, but thatโs not going to stop me from shooting my shot.
Not looking for anything more than a fling and concerned that sheโs too old for me, Willa doesnโt want to venture into anything serious. Iโm willing to put in the work and give her the space she needs to come to terms with the fact that the connection we have is far more than physical. Willa and I are end game, but Iโm willing to play into overtime if thatโs what it takes to walk away with her by my side.

King is the fourteenth book in the Pittsburg Titanโs series. This is Jack โKingโ Kingston (heโs a defenseman) and Willa Montreauxโs story. Willa is 8 years older than Jack.
Willa is coaxed into coaching her nieceโs ice hockey team when the kids coach quits. Since Willa had been a figure skater when she was younger. At least she has skating on ice experience, even though she has no idea about ice hockey. Willa is out of her league when it comes to coaching. All she really knows is keep it positive and fun. King steps in when he overhears one of the parents of the kids berating his child and both King and Willa feel the kids should be in this for the fun. King is willing to help the kids team with the skills to skating and playing.
I love how sure King was with their relationship and Willa was not. But love does win out!
Okay this may be because I am a retired nurse but my favorite quote in this book was from Izzy to Willa, who is a family medicine doctor and is coaching the team and is Izzyโs aunt.
โIโm not scared of them. I want to push them back so they know I canโt be intubated.โ Laughing, I pat her head. โYou mean intimidated.โ
Another cute, funny and sexy story by Sawyer Bennett! Rafferty Abrams is next in this series, and I canโt wait to hear/read his story!
Audio Review:
I love it when the narrators bring the book to life and that is exactly what Robert Hatchett and Erin Mallon did. They help with painting the picture of the book as I listen to the story that they are reading to me!
