Don’t say her name.

That was the one rule my bandmates followed, because they knew how much it messed me up to think about her, especially on tour.

eBook/Audiobook review

The Drummer’s Heart is a standalone second chance romance. Even though this book can be read as a standalone there is another book, The Rocker’s Muse that has Tristan & Emily’s story. Who are in this book too. Tristan is Atticus’ band mate in Delirious Jones.

This is Atticus Marchetti and Nicole Marchetti’s story. Atticus and Nicole are divorced. Nicole never told her grandmother, Mimi, that she had gotten a divorce because she didn’t think Mimi could take the news. Because Mimi was like Atticus’ grandmother Nicole had to let Atticus know that Mimi wasn’t doing well, and that Mimi needed a caregiver for a couple of weeks. Nicole wanted Atticus to help with Mimi for them to keep up the ruse that they were still together.

As I was reading this book, I couldn’t help but feel for Atticus and Nicole! Nicole was so hurt, and I didn’t discover why until towards the end of the book and Atticus had been so torn.

I listened to the audible copy and then loosely followed along their story with a copy of the eBook. The narrators are Angelina Rocca and Sebastian York. I have heard Sebastian York narrate other books, but I have never heard Angelina Rocco before. I loved listening to the book. Both the narrators have voices that draw you in. I give 5 STARS for the book itself and for the narrators!

I love how this author writes her stories. I think that Penelope Ward really knows who her audience is and she writes the best stories! Getting to listen to the story being told is a wonderful way to read a book! It allows a reader to get lost in the story!

Lita’s Book Review: 4 Stars

The Drummer’s Heart by Penelope Ward is Atticus and Nicole’s story. When I initially started reading this story, I didn’t realize that this story was about the next bandmate of Delirious Jones. The first book was The Rocker’s Muse. You certainly do not have to read that book. However, it is a really good story that I enjoyed immensely. Nicole is Atticus’s ex-wife.  He has known and loved her since she was 16 and he was 18. Atticus has been struggling with his feelings for his ex-wife, so when she calls him up after 3 years and asks for a favor, he is curious. I enjoyed how this story was told. The author kept going from the present and the past in order to tell Atticus and Nicole’s story. Not only handsome, Atticus is also a real stand-up guy. He wants his wife back and knows he has his work cut out. Nicole still loves Atticus, but some things have happened that caused their initial break-up and still exist. This story was so good.  I loved Atticus and Nicole’s journey to their HEA. This was a journey that had so many obstacles that I didn’t know if they could overcome it.  When a surprise happens to them, it really was just the cherry on the top. I am also excited for the next story of the last band mate, Ronan’s story. It’s a really good series 4 stars for me.
