Unveil is book 1 in the Frayed Satin series and is the first book that I have read by this author. This is a series of “interconnected standalones” with guaranteed HEA’s. Also heed the TW/CW’s. UnVeil (Frayed Satin series) is a spinoff. I have not read any part of the Tattered Curtain Legacy series and that might have helped to have read prior to this new spinoff.

This is a Dark Swan Lake retelling and is Luna Bordeaux and Orion Fury’s story. I can’t say I know anything about Swan Lake, but it is also a bit of the Hatfields and McCoy’s feud. It’s the Wilde’s against the Fury’s.

Luna finds herself promised to the Fury’s by her father, when she turns 22 years old. Orion has known for years that Luna has been promised to him, and he has protected her during those years. He actually calls her “wife”, and they aren’t married but promised.

I love dark stories, but I found myself not enjoying this book as much as I thought I would. Is it because I never read the original series? Who knows, since I didn’t read it. So, I am going to rate this book 3.5 stars. I would love to read another book by this author since she writes in the genre I love.
