Lita T’s Review: 4 Stars
Escape (Blackstone, # 2) by J.L. Drake is Keith’s story He has always been secretive regarding his personal life but in this book we finally learn his story. Keith always knew he wanted to join the army. He was a standout high school hockey player. He has loving parents, siblings and a feisty grandmother. The love of his life Lexi could not accept his decision to join the army and had a hard time dealing with him being gone. When tragedy hits Lexi’s life she spirals out of control. Keith has never stopped loving her but she has made it clear she cannot get over the hurt of him enlisting. Years later when he comes home for a family wedding he is drawn to check on Lexi for himself. What he sees has him fearing for her safety. Initially I was not too interested in this story. Part of it was he was not Mark who I had just finished reading about in Honor but eventually I was really into the story. Not only was I treated to Keith’s story but I was still able to catch up with the regular cast of character. Keith’s grandmother is hilarious as well as Mark and Savannah. The things which Lexi and her brother were enduring had my skin crawling but by the end of the book I had a smile on my face. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I give Keith’s story 4 stars.
