Forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest. It had been years since I had seen her.

Years since I last saw those eyes with pure, raw innocence.

So much time had passed since I lusted after what I knew I should resist.

But she was so right.

And I was so wrong.

To claim her as mine was breaking the rules. Boundaries should not be broken.
But temptation weakens my resolve.

With the pull of my dark desires…

I know that I can’t hide from my sinful thoughts—and actions—forever.

*Devils & Rye is a dark billionaire romance. If you don’t like a splash of
shock, a dash of taboo, and a heavy dose of sex, then don’t take a sip of this
TOP SHELF cocktail.

Lita T’s Review: 4 stars

Devils and Rye (Top Shelf #4) by Alta Hensley in a continuation in the man from the Spiked Roses. We get Alec’s story. We got a glimpse at the end of book 3 when we learn his niece is coming. Now Makayla is all grown up and has looks and a body. Alec has his share and pick of any woman he wants but something about Makayla calls to him. He knows she is forbidden fruit and off limits. She is his  best friend’s daughter. They spent a lot of time together when she was younger.  Now she is all woman and he is old enough to be her daddy. When he receives a letter from his friend he has to take Makayla to hide. The life Alec left behind, a life that his friend is still in wants Makayla. When circumstances arise both Makayla and Alec are back into a life Alec never wanted to see again. This story had a little bit of everything. There was definitely some hot kinky sex plus a real interesting back story. Don’t want to give too much away. A good story with spice and intrigue. A really good series overall. Each book has its own story that are enjoyable and entertaining.  I give this book 4 stars.

Bettina A’s Review: 4 Stars

Alec has a past that he chooses to keep a secret. No one from Top Shelf know’s who he is and what he was affiliated with. Then suddenly Makalya shows up looking for a job and Alec’ s long time best friend writes that he needs his help. When Alec was smart enough to walk away his best friend, Rhett stayed behind. Now Rhett is asking Alec to watch over and protect Makalya. Alec is torn between choosing to stay away from the danger and choosing to protect the not so little Makalya he last saw years ago. Alec soon learns that some decisions come with a heavy price. Makayla is excited to be away from her father and out in the real world, she’s allowed to work at uncle Alec’s club. There’s something about Alec that always seems to make Makalya stomach flutter. Learning that she and her father are in danger and that Alec will be guarding her,  Makalya can’t turn her back on her father like Alec seem to have done. One decision and Makalya puts everyone life is in danger.. Can Alec do the impossible or has Makalya signed everyone’s death certificate?
I enjoyed reading this book. I didn’t really know what to expect with this book. I liked the taboo aspect of uncle Alec and Makalya. I enjoyed the chemistry and attraction between Alec and Makalya.  The book was very engaging and kept me wanting to read more. I would recommend this book to others to read.
