She felt a jolt of heat power through her. โEven if I was, I donโt think itโs a good idea.โ
โCan I ask why?โ

A thoughtful expression came over his face. โThatโs kind of what makes it workable in my mind. I canโt tell anyone what I do. That makes for difficult relationships. You already know, and it wonโt surprise you that I donโt talk about my work. You wonโt get upset if I have to be gone for a couple of weeks without notice. I have a hard time making connections to people, but it was easy with you. Even if youโre not interested in me in a physical way, I hope we can beโฆfriends.โ He said the word like it didnโt quite make sense to him. Like it was a foreign word on his tongue.
There was no way for her to deny the electricity between them. She wasnโt sure she even wanted to. That inner voice kept getting stronger.
What would be the harm in seeing if it could work? You might get an orgasm or two out of it. Heโs not saying heโs going to walk at the end. Heโs actually saying he wants to see you outside this cabin. Why not try?
She was a careful woman. Sheโd learned that lesson from watching her father throw himself into deadly situations again and again.
But what was she risking? He was right. It was hard for her to connect. She reached for his hand. โYou didnโt make me uncomfortable. Iโm glad you were honest with me. The last couple of days have beenโฆnice.โ
A slow smile spread across his face, and he threaded his fingers through hers. โNice? Awful sexual tension is nice to you?โ
โI wouldnโt say awful. Anticipation can be fun.โ It was good to know she hadnโt been the only one who felt the heat between them.
โAre you saying yes?โ Drake asked.
Did she want to let him walk out of here and never know what it felt like to be in his arms? Theyโd been thrown together for a reason. It couldnโt be some random thing that theyโd met again. She would hate herself if she didnโt give it a shot.
In a couple of months she would be out of this life and might be able to find some kind of normalcy. Maybe it was time to take a chance.
โYes,โ she said.
โThen come here and let me kiss you and tell you how the nightโs going to go,โ he said in a commanding tone.
Her whole body responded. She moved, standing and twisting so she sat on his lap. โHow is my night going to go, Drake?โ
One big hand cupped the nape of her neck while his other arm wound around her waist. โLetโs find out.โ

No Time to Lie is Masters & Mercenaries: Reloaded book #4. Each of these books can be read as a standalone. But I always think it is better to go back to the beginning so that you can know who the characters are. Lexi Blake is going back and renewing her Masters & Mercenaires series. I had wanted to start reading her M & M series and since I had not read many of the original series I thought it would be great getting to go back and easily start at the beginning, in which I have.
This is Drake Radcliffe and Taylor Clineโs story. What I love about this series is getting to know the new characters that are introduced but also getting to know more about the older characters too. The kids from the older characters are now coming into play and that is awesome as far as I am concerned.
This book is really enjoyable! I am now highly anticipating The Dom Who Came in from the Cold. This will be Kyle Hawthorne and MaeBe Vaughanโs story!
