His name was Ozzie.

He was the college hockey star every girl wanted a piece of and who every guy wanted to be.

But I didn’t know he existed. Not until the editor of the school paper agreed to give me a position in exchange for writing an article about him and his private life. I want the position. More than anything. It’s been part of my plan for as long as I can remember. But associating with jocks isn’t something I’m comfortable with given how unpopular and awkward I was in high school. I can’t let that stand in my way, though. I’m too stubborn for that.

I devise a plan to meet him and it works better than I thought it would. I don’t tell him what I’m up to, and by the time I start to realize what all the fuss is about, it’s too late. My lie threatens to expose his darkest secrets and also break my heart.

Lita T’s 4 Star Review:

Pucker Up by Sara Hubbard. Charlie is determined to get on the college newspaper. She has a plan and like clockwork has gone to the editor to convince him to give her a place on the paper. The main problem is freshman are not allowed on the paper. She is real driven and is determined to follow her dream. The editor tells her if she can write an in depth piece on the star of the hockey team and he likes the story he will consider putting on the paper. Charlie’s problem is everyone the editor has sent to get that story has been shot down. Charlie knows if she can get on the paper than she will make her photojournalist father proud. Ozzie is the star of the hockey team. He is very private and has trust issues. He is extremely guarded about his private life and has no intention of sharing his story with a reporter of the school newspaper. Being determined Charlie decides to go to the gym around the time the hockey team is there to workout in hopes of running into Ozzie. I have read several stories by this author and when I had the opportunity to read this book I jumped at it. I am glad I did. This was the story of two young adults who have had a rough time and are just trying to make something of themselves. The journey has been rough and tough but just maybe they’ll be able to heal each other. Outside forces seem to want to get in the way. I finished this book fairly quickly because I couldn’t put it down. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I give it 4 stars.

I have now read a couple of books by Sara Hubbard and I look forward to reading more books by said author.

Pucker Up is Charlie and Ozzie’s story. Charlie really wants to work for the College Newspaper and she felt she would do anything to get that position. But, would she really do anything? Even if it meant hurting someone. Especially if that someone is Ozzie? I guess you will have to read Pucker Up to know if she could. Things do backfire for Charlie and now she needs rectify things between her and Ozzie.

I loved the story and I fell in love with both Ozzie & Charlie.

I enjoyed Pucker Up and I look forward to reading more books by Sara Hubbard. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give Pucker Up 4 stars.
