Calista
“I am the monster they created. I’m the whore they’re ashamed of.”
When life tried to break me I grabbed that b*tch by the throat and squeezed.
I thought I could overcome anything. I swore I could handle him, but after being forced to play at the Devil’s playground I ended up craving his touch.
One taste of his poison made my loyalties begin to waiver.
Romero
“I’m a living nightmare, I’m everything they fear.”
I’ve been called the Devil, deranged, and a savage. I lived by a code created by rebel souls. We were sinners and thieves that made no apologies for taking whatever the f*ck we wanted. Saving a girl in the woods was never part of my plans, but when I saw the crazy in her eyes I knew it was a match made in hell.
Now secrets are piling up, the bodies are rotting, and time is running out to finish what I started.
Forewarning, our story is more than a little f*cked up.
Authors Note:
I am not going to put a long ‘trigger warning’ on this book. I will say that Savages is a VERY cautionary tale that has no regard for hard limits. Reader discretion IS highly advised. <–18+

Lita T’s Review: 5 STARS
Savages ( Badlands#1) by Natalie Bennett is a post apocalyptic story of life for Calista. She has always had a hard life. It is nothing new for her. She is strong, clever and can handle a lot of bad things. She is the daughter of the head of a religious cult that doesn’t treat their women or girl children to well. You can say they are sex toys and servants. Upon her expulsion from the group where she was left for dead she now is part of another group. She has never forgot what her father has done to her or what he allowed to be done to her. Her mission is revenge and she ends up making a deal with the Devil to obtain her goal. Romero is the spawn if not the devil himself. He is a monster and he makes no excuses for who he is. He takes what he wants and disposes of it when he is ready. However his newest find is different and he plans on keeping her for a while. She is just as depraved as him. I was pleasantly surprised I liked this story especially as much as I did. I wanted the next book as soon as I finished this one. Yes this story is dark and twisted. This story is not for the faint of heart. There were quite a few twist and turns so pay attention. I wonder what other twisted stuff this author’s mind can come up with. I love dark and twisted especially when it is told in a way that you just can’t get enough. 5 stars for me. The story does end on a cliff hanger but an oh so good one!

Calista a.k.a “Cali” has a dark and twisted past. Being raised with a cult, she had to do things that no child should ever do. Four years later Cali is looking for her father. She’s not the same little girl that they dumped four years earlier. Romero is known as “the devil” to everyone who’s heard of him. Leader of the Savages, Romero is ruthless and anyone who deals with him ends up dead. Cali heard that Romero is also looking for her father and decides to join his group hoping to get close to her dad. It is one thing to hear about “the devil” and to experience him. Cali soon learns that Romero is a lot worse than she thought. Will Cali be able to join the Savages and get revenge on her dad? Or will Romero do the one thing her family couldn’t do, destroy her.
WTH did I read?? This was darker than I expected. It hit major triggers subjects and I loved it!!! Cali is strong because of what she has gone thru in her childhood. She’s not like a typical girl. Romero is that guy you would hate to love him.. He’s that guy that your conscience screams at you to run away from. I could not put this book down. I remember being at 25% then 73% and finally the end. I did not want it to end. I needed more!! I was not prepared for the ending.. That’s the only reason why it didn’t get a 5 star!! I was screaming “Noooooooo!!!!” Sigh.. I would most definitely recommend this book to others who enjoy pushing their boundaries..

When she isn’t in front of her computer she’s spending time with her husband and their three little boys.
