Title: Judgment: Kian (part 1 of The Judgment Duet)

Author: Lora Ann

Genre: paranormal romance, dark urban fantasy

“You are hereby sentenced to one lifetime on Earth as a human.”
Kian kneels as they rip the wings from his body, strip him of his armor, and give him the form of a man. His orders are clear. “Find the child. He will be of great power someday if you can protect him during the most vulnerable time of his life.” The floor of gold opens…
Afton finds safety in isolation, penance for a past she wants to escape, until a man appears on her hike. Did he fall from the sky?
Kian and Afton discover their explosive bond will be taken to the brink as sides are chosen in the war for souls.
More than love is at stake.
More than lives lie in the balance.
And an unexpected, hair-raising twist will alter it all.

He hauled her up against his body, considerably larger than hers. She was furious with herself for taking in the feel of those unforgiving muscles against her softer, leaner petite frame. He was a tall man, standing just over six and half feet, towering her as he leaned and bent her body back. Her neck ached from the angle due to the height differential of over a foot. “I am not insane,” he claimed.
She nodded a few times. “Okay. Do you mind letting me go?”
His gaze now blazed on hers. “If I must.”
She swallowed hard. “I think it’s best.” Unsure of her own words, as if he weaved some sort of spell over her.
His head tilted closer. “It’s not magic.”
She gasped, “You read minds?”
“No. I mean, your thoughts were clear in your expression,” he admitted.
“So, you read behaviors?” She was as intrigued as she was terrified.
“I believe that would be an accurate assessment.”
“You speak like you’re from a—”
“I need to learn your current vernacular.” His grin sheepish. “Language is a living thing, changing from continent, to country, to region and to generation.”
“I suppose that’s true,” she declared. “But it’s as if you’re not from this era.”
“I’m not. I’ve already told you that. I just became human.”
She blew out an exaggerated breath, watching as it lifted his hair from his forehead. “You have my attention. What were you before?”
His mouth now against her ear sending warmth throughout her body. “Angel,” he whispered.
“What?!” She fought to breathe, losing the battle as she fainted.

Judgment: Kian (The Judgment Duet, part 1)Judgment: Kian by Lora Ann

Tanya Rae’s rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Judgment: Kian is the first part in The Judgment Duet. This is Kian and Afton’s story. Kian is an angel that has had his wings stripped and he has been banished to Earth to live as a man. Afton is the first to see him in all his glory and throws her coat over him to cover his naked self and then brings him to her cabin. Kian has a job to protect a little boy, Cole McNeil while he is on Earth.

There are a lot of characters in Judgment: Kian and I would think this book would benefit from a glossary of who’s who. Especially for complicated & intense stories such as this one.

There are Humans, Vampires, Angels & Demons, oh my! Judgment: Kian is a Dark Urban Fantasy & Paranormal story.

This book ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger. Thankfully, the next book will be out in August some time. I really need to find out what is going to happen. I give Judgment: Kian 4.5 stars and I can’t wait for Judgment: Lars.

Lita T’s Review: 4 Stars

Judgment: Kian( The Judgment Duet, part 1) by Lora Ann. Kian has been stripped of his angelic wings and as his punishment he is banished to live as a men. While on earth he is to protect a little boy with special powers. Once on earth Kian is befriended by Afton, a lady who has secluded herself away from a life she would rather forget. Others as well are after this special boy. Some of these people are of this world and some are not of this world. A very interesting story that has a lot of different players who have their own struggles. There is the struggle between Heaven and Hell & good and evil. There are humans, demons, angels and fallen angels. The story has forbidden love, BDSM and torture. Initially I had a hard time deciding how I felt about this story because of all the things going on with the different characters. But I can say I am looking forward to the next book, there were several different story lines I am curious to see how the author will wrap them up. A really strange premise for a book. I give it 4 stars.
