A month after her high school graduation, small-town-girl Samantha “Sam” Bronwyn boards a plane with her best friend, Ginny. Destination: San Francisco. But when Ginny disappears inside an airport bathroom wearing Sam’s letterman jacket, it doesn’t take her long to figure out she was the intended target. Alone in a strange city, Sam’s on a run for her life–drawn into a dark past she never knew existed. A past where secrets aren’t all that’s buried and where revenge comes at the highest price.
Who is Sam really–and who can she trust? The mysterious stranger in 4A who secreted a gun in his backpack? The guilty ex-con? The disarming FBI agent? Her own mother?
Only one thing is certain. Someone is after her. Someone who knows more about her than she does. Someone who wants to teach her a hard lesson: There are worse things than murder.

Daddy Dearest ( Doctor’s of Darkness,#1) Ellery A. Kane is the story of Samantha. An 18 year old who is from a small town in Texas. For graduation Sam and her best friend Ginny take a trip to San Francisco. While wearing Sam’s letterman jacket Ginny is mistakenly kidnapped. This is the beginning of a rabbit hole Sam is falling in after she discovers that her mother isn’t who she thought she was. As she learns more about her mother the more she questions who she is. I really liked the story but I had a hard time with the way in which the author told the story. Maybe not hard but how she told her story had me confused at time. The author tells the story going from the present with what’s going on with Sam and finding Ginny and the past where we learn Sam’s mother’s story. Clare was a hot mess. Her life was wild and she was something else. The ending was definitely wow and once everything was revealed I was left wanting more. By all means pay attention. There is a whole lot going on in this story. I give it 4 strong stars.
What if you couldn’t forget it?

The Hanging Tree (Doctors of Darkness #2) by Ellery Kane is the next story in the series of doctors in the psychiatric field who have psychological issues of their own. Evie has lived with a drug addicted mother and her drug dealer boyfriend . When the mom dies she finds herself in a group home. At 13 she experiences a trauma under the hanging tree and awakes on a bus in another place with no knowledge of how she got there. Years later she comes back to unravel what happened to her all those years ago. She is a therapist and helps male sex offenders. Her office has a view of the hanging tree. This was a story written in such a way that you couldn’t figure out what was going on till almost the end. As she remembers more about her past life she has more questions. There were so many twist and turns. There were definitely quite a few secrets revealed. I did like this story. Very interesting. 4 stars.
It’s no wonder Ava can’t stop watching. It’s no wonder she can’t let go.
But Ian is far from perfect, and Ava owes a debt too. For the unforgivable thing they’d done together. The dark deed that severed their marriage in two. When Ava’s name is found inked in blood at the crime scene, a reckoning seems inevitable. Someone knows what she’s hiding. Someone sees what she’s done. And karma is ready to collect its pound of flesh.

The Final Cut (Doctors of Darkness #3) by Ellery Kane. This book is about Dr. Ava Lawson. She was once married to Ian Culpepper who was part of the love doctors. The women who has replaced her and Ian are now dead. This is a story of the solving of the crime of Mr. & Mrs. Culpeper’s death, Ava’s past relationship on how she became Mrs. Culpepper and her current obsessive relationship regarding her ex and her possible implication in his murder. Definitely another story with many twists and turns, who actually committed the crime and why. This story at times had my head spinning. At times I didn’t know what in the heck was going on but once it was all revealed I was like ” hell I didn’t see that coming.” This was definitely a strange series and the style of storytelling by the author was something I had never experienced. Once I got use to it, it made following the story easier. 3.5 stars for me.
