Reaper Academy: Semester One, a new paranormal fantasy by New York Times bestselling authors Emily Goodwin & Jasmine Walt, is live!

Hey there. I’m Addison Blake. Orphan, college student, and amateur ghost whisperer.

Or at least I was until I was killed by the soul-eating demon trying to devour my best friend.

Okay, technically the demon didn’t kill me. I killed it. But apparently no good deed goes unpunished, because the next thing I knew, I was enrolled at Reaper Academy, a school that trains reapers on how to ferry souls to the afterlife and vanquish the demons who try to eat them. Being that the academy is in the afterlife, I had to leave my body behind. Hence the dead part. But it was either that or be devoured by demons myself, so really, what choice did I have?

As someone who already has experience interacting with ghosts, I figured the academy would be a breeze. The guys are hot, the classes are badass, and I’m starting to feel like I belong. But something sinister walks the halls of Reaper Academy, an evil spirit with a taste for reapers. Students are starting to go missing, and unless my new friends and I can figure out who’s behind it, we might very well be next…

Tanya Rae’s rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reaper Academy: Semester One is the first book in the Reaper Academy series. I have read Emily Goodwin’s books before but not any by Jasmine Walt.

This book wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. Although to be fair I was not sure what I was expecting Reaper Academy was very good and I loved reading it.

There’s a school for learning spells, how to use a scythe and how to be a reaper. The kids start school at the age of 13 and attend for 6-7 years. So far there are ghosts and demons.

There are 3 types of reapers. “Proeliators are warriors, specially trained to fight demons and evil spirits, Magi are gifted in spellcraft, and Arbiters are trackers who specialize in retrieving lost or hard to find souls.”

Semester One is Addison Blake’s story. She wasn’t even enrolled at Reaper Academy until after she ended up killing some demons and ended up dead thereby giving up her earthly body.

There are lots of kids to interact with that are attending Reaper Academy so I expect there will be a few books to follow in this series.

Semester One is a very good start to this new series and I can’t wait to read more of their story.

About Jasmine:

New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Jasmine Walt is obsessed with books, chocolate, and sharp, pointy objects. Somehow, those three things melded together in her head and transformed into a desire to write. Usually fantastical stuff, with a healthy dose of action and romance. Her characters are a little (okay, a lot) on the snarky side, and they swear, but they mean well. Even the villains sometimes.

When Jasmine isn’t working on her next book, you can find her practicing her dao sword form, spending time with her family, or binge-watching superhero shows on Netflix. She loves to hear from her readers, so if you’ve got a question or just want to say hi, feel free to email her at
